Flores is a native of San Antonio, Texas, where he helped train TAPPS powerhouse Antonian Volleyball and USAV-qualifying Texas Fusions Teams in high school. He played club volleyball for six years, competing in the Open division every year, and was on the first boys’ volleyball team from Texas to qualify in the Open division. He also participated in USA Volleyball’s High Performance Championships for two years, representing USA Volleyball and the Texoma Region.
